OBITUARY  Mr. Joseph "Joe" Barnett Wolverton, Jr.  April 21, 1930 - May 8, 2019

Joseph Barnett Wolverton Jr., affectionately known as "Joe", age 89, passed away Wednesday, May 8, 2019, at home in Grain Valley, Missouri, surrounded by his loving family.

Joe served in the National Guard, the U. S. Navy and had a lifelong career with the railroad. He was a hard working self-reliant man with a big generous heart and had a lot of common sense. He was proud of his family whom he loved unconditionally. His life was a gift to others around him. He loved taking care of his property, the outdoors, fishing and riding his tractor mower, but most of all his family. He built all three of his homes with his own hands and together with his wife Wilma, put their three children through college.

Joe is preceded in death by his parents Joseph Barnett Wolverton Sr. and Cora Elizabeth (Kallenbach) Wolverton, and brothers Donald Dean and Forrest Dale Wolverton. 

Joe is survived by his wife Wilma, the love of his life for 67 years; their children, Joyce Newhouse, Debbie Radford and Joseph Robert Wolverton; grandchildren: Ryan Newhouse, Matt Newhouse and Joseph Nathan Wolverton; 4 great grandchildren; sisters: Eloise Jarrell, Marcheta McCarthy, Donna McVay, Gloria Little; brother Stephen Wolverton and many other loving family and friends.

Service Information: Monday, May 13, 2019, Visitation: 9:00 A.M., Funeral Service: 10 A.M. at Floral Hills Funeral Home, 7000 Blue Ridge Blvd, Kansas City, Missouri 64133. Followed by Graveside Service with Military Honors in Floral Hill East Cemetery, 25203 E. US Hywy 50, Lee’s Summit, Missouri 64086.
